Why I Only Sell Curated Retro Tech

Why I Only Sell Curated Retro Tech

1980 Co. was built on a simple idea: not everything deserves a second life — but the right pieces absolutely do. I don’t chase trends, I don’t list piles of random junk, and I don’t flood the store with anything that doesn’t fit the vibe. Everything here is chosen with intention.

Retro tech has character. It has history. It has weight. But only when it’s taken care of. That’s why I focus on curated pieces — consoles, handhelds, accessories, and collectibles that still have life left in them. When something comes into the workshop, it gets cleaned, tested, inspected, and brought back to a standard I’m proud to ship.

I avoid low‑margin headaches, broken controllers, and anything that feels like a gamble. I’d rather offer fewer items and keep the quality high than list everything I find. That’s what makes 1980 Co. different. It’s not a marketplace. It’s a collection.

If it’s in the store, it’s something I personally believe in — something worth owning, worth restoring, and worth sending out the door with Priority shipping. That’s the whole point of a curated shop: intentional pieces, premium experience, and a brand built on trust.
